Who Is Njal?

Who is Njal? As I read through the book Njal´s Saga, the character Njal came out to be a character of wisdom and who everyone trusts. “I don´t want to say anything – then man is related to me. You say something, Njal, since everybody will believe you” (chapter 34) it seems that Njal has created such a reputation to everyone that he is known to for this. People that know him well trust his words, so we can see that he never fails. This character could also be perceived as a person with power or capability to analyze the situations and then see the outcome. “But the death of many will come from it. Will my death perhaps come from this? Said Gunnar. Not from this, said Njal” (chapter 58) he knows when his time to die will come or when his friends as if he has so much knowledge that he can tell. The sense we get that Njal is so great is because of his best friend, Gunnar that as soon he has a trouble he without second thought he will chose Njal over anything. We establish such a relationship with Gunnar we trust his words. We also have proof of what people say of Njal he is wise. So if I were to answer my question who is Njal? I would say that he is a mystical being someone so complex and smart that is indescribable someone wise.
